Ben Spies Nominated for SPEED Award

Friday, December 10, 2010
Ben Spies mastered another difficult track under wet conditions on Friday taking the fifth-fastest lap at Estoril.
The 2010 MotoGP season saw one of the most impressive rookie performances in series history when Parts Europe-supported Ben Spies lined up aboard his privateer Yamaha.

The Texan had already earned numerous championships worldwide and proved his talent was a force to be reckoned with. He earned multiple podium finishes, the pole position in Indianapolis and MotoGP rookie of the year honors as he finished the series sixth overall. Spies will now make the move to the Factory Yamaha squad for 2011 and will no doubt be a title contender.

To cap off this amazing season, Spies has been nominated for another Rookie of the Year award for the SPEED Performance Awards. He is up against four other rookies from various motorsports disciplines and can use your help to pull off the win.

Voting for the awards will close at midnight on Monday, December 13, 2010. The winner will be announced during a one-hour television special in February. To view Spies’ highlight video and to cast your vote, click here.

you can never count rossi out of the equation!!!!! Even if he is on a new bike. Look what he did with the yamaha, and we all know the ducati is capable of winning already.

Who watches SPEED Channel? Oh, I forgot, Stealth Rider is sooo cool. He doesn't take his mom, she takes him.

Pedrosa only growing a wrench in? You must be mad. If he didn't crash this year he might have caught Lorenzo. And Stoner couldn't get the Ducati sorted until the last few races and then he was getting podium finishes. Stoner and Pedrosa will be right there in the hunt next year. There are at least 5 riders who could win the whole thing. Lorenzo, Spies, Pedrosa, Stoner, and Rossi in no particular order.

Stoner can barely keep it on two wheels. Lorenzo and Spies are going to be scrapping with Rossi next year. Pedrosa will through a wrench in there from time to time. I don't think Stoner will win another championship in the premier class, especially with his crap attitude.
