Paris Hilton, yes, that Paris Hilton will lend her name to a new racing effort in the 125cc Grand Prix class. The famous-for-being-famous hotel heiress will see her brand grace the livery of the new SuperMartxe VIP by Paris Hilton team.

Paris Hilton brings the Paris Hilton brand to Grand Prix.

MotoGP.com reports the squad will compete in the 2011 season with Ricard Jove as technical director. Riders Sergio Gadea and Maverick Vinales will look to snare the final 125 title for Ms. Hilton and company.

Hilton and her SuperMartxe entourage are expected to make the team announcement Saturday, December 18th at the ME Hotel in Madrid, Spain. SuperMartxe VIP is a dance-party series with which Hilton is affiliated, and is based in the Spanish resort island of Ibiza. The team sponsorship is reminiscent of another Hollywood-bankrolled GP team. Actor Antonio Banderas funded a Moto2 team in 2010, with the now disbanded Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas squad supporting American Kenny Noyes.

I think Paris can only help things for the 125cc teams. Nobody takes the smaller bikes seriously anyways.

The point is...expansion. There are a number of significant moves that have been made to increase the # of riders in the paddock. Switching to 1000's was the biggest regarding the premier, can't wait to see which manufactures (new) enter, along with the rider line up. Regarding the 125/250 classes, more power to them for doing "whatever" to keep these classes moving forward. What MotoGP needs is some famous NASCAR drivers "son" to somehow make it to the professional motorcycle ranks, so the tv cameras can make a different turn...literally

You guys are forgetting something important. No one in the US watches 125CC GP racing on any major broadcast. Why? It's never shown! They don't even come to Laguna. It is never aired on TV here. How is this going to get attention if it doesn't even happen here in the US. They may race at indy but it certainly doesn't get any coverage.

Whether it is wrong or right, anything that expands the MotoGP classes is positive in my book. More respect for her now than I ever did...more than I can say about CA. governor anyway...

Say what you will about Paris, and I would probably agree but the main thing is that this will expose MotoGP to a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't give a crap, especially in the US where the exposure is greatly needed. Bravo!

I'm certainly no fan of Paris Hilton, but honestly if her name attracts non-motorsports media attention, sponsorship dollars and new fans, it can only be good for the sport.

This really really really sucks! Can't blame a squad for taking a sponsor but I hope she keeps her mouth shut! Anyone ever see the vid of her crashing that mini chopper? She is crap!

There is just something so wrong about this. Maybe it's because there is something so real and raw about motorcycle racing and riders that injecting someone so fake into it creates this enormous contrast--like someone taking a dump in the middle of a crowded restaurant.
