In light of the recent calamities that have struck Japan, Dorna and the FIM have requested that the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix be officially postponed to October 2, 2011. The delay makes it the second year in a row that the Motegi GP has had to be rescheduled later in the
MotoGP season due to Mother Nature, with last year’s interruption being due to the resulting ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano eruption.
Here’s is the official release from FIM:
Due to the disasters that have hit Japan in the last few days and a consequent request from the organizer, the Japanese Grand Prix, at the circuit of Twin Ring Motegi (120 km north of Tokyo), originally scheduled on April 24, has been postponed to 2 October 2011.
