Rossi Wins Monza Rally in Ford Fiesta

is staying busy in the MotoGP
off-season. Between the various tests aboard his new Yamaha mount, the Doctor is finding time to compete (and win) in the four-wheeled realm. Rossi took part in the 2012 Monza Rally Show, piloting a #46 WRC Ford Fiesta to victory in the Stage Rally and then once again in the Master Show.
Rossi had seasoned racer Dino Capello close behind through the nine contests of the Stage Rally, with the MotoGP legend taking the overall win by just 2.8 seconds. Both riders easily outpaced the rest of the competition, as third-place finisher Piero Longhi trailed by 54.4 seconds once the rally was complete.
In the Master Show, where drivers go head-to-head on the famed Italian track, Rossi came to the start line with the fastest heat times on the grid. He soon had a line to the front, but had to overcome Capello once again to earn the win. In the end Rossi bested his closest competition by 8.5 seconds. Rossi wasn’t the only MotoGP rider to make the Master’s podium, as Andrea Dovizioso
rounded out the top-three.
Dovi will likely return to the world of rally racing, as his performance in the Stage Rally was also notable, finishing in fifth.
