Canard (shown here after breaking his femur at Washougal) has been plagued by injury.
Factory Honda rider
Trey Canard has suffered another injury, this time a broken collarbone (clavicle). Standard recovery time for this type of injury is eight weeks, which would see the unlucky rider miss the opening four rounds of Supercross, returning at Anaheim 2. We’re still waiting for an official statement from Honda, but Canard had this to say about the injury, via Twitter.
“I am getting my calcium and trust me, I've done about all I can do to stay healthy. I wasn't over my head or pressing it too far. I was riding within my comfort zone and just got an unexpected buck. There is only so much you can do when you are moving at a high speed.”
Canard was preparing for the
2012 AMA Supercross season aboard his
Honda CRF450R. The likable Oklahoma native notched his first premier-class victories and finished fifth in the 2011 SX series despite a broken femur late in the season. He returned to race the outdoor Motocross Championship where he broke his femur again at Washougal.
Honda also has Justin Brayton slated to compete, which means Big Red will have at least one of its factory bikes on the track, not to mention Chad Reed’s TwoTwo Motorsports machine.
