Arctic Cat Wildcat 50 Planned for 2014

Friday, March 1, 2013
As the side-by-side craze spreads like wildfire, manufacturers are working at a feverish pace to keep up with the variety of demands. Standard two-seaters set to rip dunes and climb mountain faces are a must in any line-up, and a viable four-seat option is as good as necessary now too. The problem with many of these offerings is that their dimensions make them ineligible for use on narrower ATV trails, thus closing off a wide range of riding options. In most cases, a minimum requirement is that vehicles be 50-inches wide or less to get out on the trail, a standard that rides like the RZR 900 at 64-inches or the Teryx4 at 62 can’t meet.

While there are a few options currently on the market, the Polaris RZR 800 being the prime example, narrow, trail-ready UTV’s are in relatively short supply. Enter the new Arctic Cat Wildcat 50, recently introduced during an otherwise snowmobile-centered press event hosted by the brand. Expected to hit dealers early in 2014, the Wildcat 50 follows on the heels of two other new models introduced by Arctic Cat this year, the Wildcat 4 and X models, and promises to challenge Polaris for a piece of the trail-legal UTV market.

Details are sparse at the moment, but Arctic Cat PR states that “the new model will feature everything enthusiasts love about the Wildcat, including the styling…combine this with an all-new twin-cylinder engine and consumers will have an unrivalled Wildcat riding experience.”

Terry Crocker, Arctic Cat GM/VP of the ATV Division added that, “the new 50-inch model builds upon the success of the pure-sport Wildcat.”

Keep tuned for more information on the Wildcat 50 as it becomes available.
