Blake Baggett posted another come-from-behind win in Moto 1 at RedBud.
Blake Baggett scored the Moto 1 win at RedBud in the 250 class after staging another come-from-behind charge.
Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett took the win in 250 Moto 1 at RedBud in what is becoming his standard come-from-behind charge. BB made up time from a bad start that left him in seventh place, and with just over one minute remaining before the final two laps, he overtook Geico Honda’s Justin Barcia and proceeded to build a gap that would end up being over 10 seconds by the checkers. Behind Barcia on the podium was Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen in third.

Baggett was the only rider to consistently clear the huge triple called LaRocco's Leap, a move that helped him to make up time quickly after the start. Lapped riders helped Baggett finally get out front after chasing Barcia for nearly 10 minutes during the last half of the moto. A backmarker weaved in front of Barcia while the Honda rider was heading into an outside line and Baggett took the opportunity to go inside. Once out front  he could not be caught.

Roczen’s teammate Marvin Musquin started the moto strong with the holeshot but couldn’t hold position for a podium finish. Barcia’s teammate Eli Tomac struggled to contend out front and was unable to advance past fifth position after an early crash. Fellow Geico Honda rider Wil Hahn trailed by a wide margin in sixth, over 36 seconds behind Tomac.

Baggett then made it a perfect weekend, taking another big win in Moto 2 with nearly 20 seconds of cushion on Barcia. The Kawasaki rider came out with a much better start, taking the lead on the opening lap and only slipping to second for a few minutes after putting his bike down mid-race.

"This track is one of the best on the schedule, its got a little bit of everything," said Baggett. "There's no formula to the way I ride. It just happens. I had a pitiful start in the first moto and fought my way through the pack. I got a good start in the second moto and just tipped it over. I looked at lines to see where I could pick up ground and I just took a shot when I had a chance."

Tomac made his way to the podium in Moto 2 after charging through the field from 11th, taking third at the checkers.
In the final laps, the Honda rider blasted past Musquin, who once again missed the rostrum by one position, marking the fifth consecutive moto in which the French rider has taken fourth place. Hahn rounded out the top-five with Roczen trailing in sixth over 13 seconds behind.

Baggett continues to hold the points lead ahead of Barcia, now by 19 points. Tomac now has a one point advantage in third overall with Roczen following in fourth. Musquin and Hahn remained steady in fifth and sixth respectively.

Justin Barcia held the lead in Moto 1 for much of the contest but couldnt hold off Blake Baggetts come-from-behind charge.
