First Nicky Hayden, now Andrea Dovizioso. MotoGP stars are getting hurt right and left, and the season hasn't even started yet!
Add Andrea Dovizioso to the list of
MotoGP walking wounded. The Italian MotoGP rider reported on Twitter that he broke his right collarbone riding motocross. A picture from the hospital shows Dovizioso’s right arm in a sling and taped to his torso. This comes on the heels of
Nicky Hayden’s flat track accident last week where he broke his left scapula and fractured two ribs. This doesn’t bode well for a MotoGP paddock whose A-list of stars is thin to begin with.
Dovizioso, who finished third in the world standings last year, was scheduled to attend the first MotoGP test of the 2012 season for his new Yamaha Tech 3 team in Sepang on Jan. 31. Whether Dovi will be able to participate in the test is unknown.
Sentiment is already spreading around the internet. MotoGP 2010 World Champion Jorge Lorenzo posted this remark for Dovi on his Twitter feed. “Pronto guarigione Andrea, chi vediamo a Sepang!” which loosely translates to “Get well soon, Andrea, hope to see you in Sepang!”
