The FIM recently confirmed the Estoril circuit will be hosting Round 3 of the 2012
MotoGP Championship. For a while the Grande Premio de Portugal was in doubt because of lingering financial concerns in western Europe, but the track surfaced with enough funds to pay its sanctioning fee to Dorna just in the nick of time. Meanwhile, the calendar continues to keep a heavy presence on the Iberian peninsula with four founds in Spain and only one in Portugal.
