MotoGP competitor Dani Pedrosa
has reportedly been arrested in Spain for cheating on a boat licensing test. The 26-year-old Repsol Honda rider was amongst 21 people detained by Valencia’s Guardia Civil police for cheating on the yachting exam.
See, here's the thing... Sometimes I get my port and starboard mixed up with the bow and stern.
While it sounds like an April Fools joke… Pedrosa’s lawyer issued an apology to Spain’s Europa Press
. In the statement Pedrosa admits to “following bad advice” and that he “committed an error.” Going on to apologize to his supporters, Pedrosa vows to look forward and be ready for the MotoGP season opener this weekend at Qatar.
The Europa Press account states that Pedrosa was one of 10 people caught doing the yachting test with a concealed earpiece device.
Pedrosa is not the only Spanish MotoGP
competitor to run into embarrassing legal hurdles during the offseason. Hector Barbera was arrested for DUI in January, with the Pramac Racing rider also detained by Valencia authorities.
