MotoGP 2013 Provisional Calendar
Former MotoGP star Loris Capirossi provided the first look at the provisional 2013 MotoGP calendar today after posting it up on his Twitter account @LorisCapirossi1.
“Hey guys look at the provisional 2013 MotoGP calendar.” Thanks Loris Capirossi 65, don’t mind if we do.

Former MotoGP Ironman Capirossi, the only GP rider to surpass 300 starts, posted up the provisional 2013 MotoGP calendar on his Twitter account today. Though retired from racing, Capirossi now serves as Bridgestone’s Safety Advisor to Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of Grand Prix motorcycle racing.

One noticeable absence is the lack of a third US round even though Dorna announced back in April that it had signed a 10-year contract to bring MotoGP to Austin’s new Circuit of the Americas (COTA) facility. That whole situation has turned ugly and lawsuits between one of the primary promoters of the Austin round, former GP star Kevin Schwantz and Circuit of the Americas. Dorna is a third party in the argument but issued a statement in defense of COTA. Of course, this is a tentative schedule and two slots have yet to be decided, so we’ll have to wait to see how the situation pans out.

The other significant difference between the 2012 and 2013 MotoGP schedules is the absence of an Estoril round. MotoGP held its first competition at the Portuguese circuit back in 2000.
