The 2016 BMW R nineT Scrambler sources the same 1170cc air-cooled Boxer Twin which powers the standard R nineT, though it features new engine mapping and an updated fuel system to accord with EURO 4 standards. One of the hallmark differences between the standard model and the new Scrambler is the raised exhaust, a key design feature of motorcycles of this type. It also rolls on a 19-inch light alloy cast front wheel and 17-inch rear. The 2016 BMW R nineT Scrambler’s newly designed tubular steel frame, which utilizes the engine as a load bearing member, is suspended by a telescopic fork with gaiters that offers 4.9 inches of travel. Out back a Paralever single-sided swingarm pairs to a centrally located spring strut which offers 5.5 inches travel. ABS is standard on the R nineT Scrambler, and steel-wrapped brake lines communicate control inputs to a pair of four-piston calipers which grip dual 320 mm discs at the front.
