All things considered, both bikes seem to handle pretty well for what they are. I'm sure anyone buying either of these bikes are smart enough to know that neither of them can do twisties with sportbike accuracy. But that doesn't forbid them to go out and ride the curves to the limit of the bikes (or the persons) ability.

As an owner of a 2009 Vmax I would like to say that it is fast but has dangerously poor handling. I personally only drag race the bike and never ride it on the street. There are a lot of Star forums payed by people who are trying to sell parts for the Vmax who will tell you it's great, but that is a false statement that will get someone possible hurt. IT CAN'T DO THE TWISTIES. Oh not to burst rocketeer55's bubble, but the triumph rocket isn't as fast as a stock Vmax in any area of performance including top gear "roll-on".

While I agree both bikes create an incredible amount of horsepower and torqe, only one delivers it at an rpm practical for cruiser style riding both in town or on the road. The Yamaha is essentially a sport bike without being bent over the tank. Yamahas's power delivery is great for blasting down the quarter mile strip or ripping through the "twisties" in the mountain or coastal highways. However for almost anyone who appreciates being able to confidentally negotiate the Strip or the Twisties as well as the highways and cruise confidently any where any time with the "Roll-on" power that no other bike has ever deviered period. The Rocket III is a "Muscle Cruiser" not a sport bike with improved handle bars.

What a terrible comparison. completely different bikes. The Rocket has been a cruiser for years and the only thing they changed whas the footpegs to make it sportier, and gave it some more torque and hp and blacked out everything to make it the roadster. so its the same cruiser that it was before. and the vmax is a speed machine and has always had a sporty feeling. Of course the triumph feels like a crusier its the same bike. and they make the vmax look only like a dragstrip bike, i would buy a busa if i wanted that.
