2008 Supersport Shootout - Yamaha YZF-R6
Having raced many of the bikes in the test, if Jimmy Moore was going to buy one of these supersports it would be the track-oriented Yamaha.
Jimmy Moore
Two-time AMA Superstock Champion

"The R6 chassis is excellent and the suspension has enough bits and bobs to fine tune the whole package to perfection. If the current AMA Supersport results aren't enough to prove it, then just take my word for it. For 2008, this thing is King."

Cory Call
AFM Racer

"The Honda is easily the best all around bike of the group. For a bike you are going to use on a daily basis and ht the occasional track day there is no better choice than the CBR."

Ken Hutchison
MCUSA Editorial Director

"I am not a big fan of the supersport motorcycles because I prefer bikes with big horsepower so it's important for me to have a bike that at least feels like it has some motor. That narrows it down to three bikes in this test: The Triumph 675, Suzuki GSX-R600 and the CBR600RR. I picked the 675 and RR in the previous two tests because they provided the most thrilling ride during their respective tests. This year that award goes to the Suzuki GSX-R600 because when I was on the track I felt I couldn't put a wheel wrong and it now has the motor - so thanks for asking, I'll take new Suzuki."

Adam Waheed
MCUSA Associate Editor

"When it comes time for me to drop down some dollar bills on a new middleweight sport ride it's going to be at a dealership with a big red five-letter Honda sign above it. Although I really enjoyed each and every bike in this test, when it comes down to it the CBR600RR is the most versatile bike. Sure it's not as sharp as the R6 on the track and doesn't have anywhere near the character of the Triumph or Ducati. However, the Honda is about compromise and is in its element everywhere - from street to track; from parking lot to drag strip. The three-fifths liter CBR can do it all."

Michael Earnest
AFM Racer/Pacific Track Time Owner

"I just really like that Yamaha. Bring it on."

From the first moment we turned a lap on the CBR600RR we knew this bike was something special and the fact that it was able to come back and defend its title against new bikes and former class champions just goes to show how good the Honda really is.
The winner of our shootout for two consecutive years, the Honda CBR600RR was tapped out by four of seven testers as their FMM pick.
Don Becklin
MCUSA President

"I always looked forward to the rotation where I got to hop on the CBR as it feels natural and fun. At this point in my life, that's what I'm looking for, something that limits my stress factor and maximizes my fun factor. For me, that sums up the2008 Honda CBR600RR."

Joe Wallace
MCUSA Software Designer

"You have to love the Honda and the Ducati for their motors. Both of them will pull the front wheel up with minimal effort and if that doesn't put a smile on your face not much else will. I'll go with the Honda."
