Villopoto and Weimer Remain with Kawasaki

Friday, September 7, 2012
Jake Weimer and Ryan Villopoto have both agreed to multi-year deals with Monster Energy Kawasaki.

“Our goal from the beginning was to have the best riders on the track and we have that with Ryan and Jake,” said Reid Nordin, Kawasaki Senior Manager of Racing. “The guys work extremely well with each other and the rest of our team, and have both had exceptional seasons. We are looking forward to having two Kawasaki’s on the podium and continued success for many years to come.”

Villopoto won the 2012 450 Supercross title, but was unable to defend his 2011 Motocross title due to injury. He has been with Kawasaki since his amateur career and currently sits seventh on the all-time Supercross win list.

Weimer took fifth in the 2012 Supercross championship and is fourth overall heading into the final round of Motocross. He won the 2010 Supercross Lites West Region Championship and represented the United States in 2009 at the Motocross of Nations.

Both riders will ride in the Monster Energy Cup on October 20, 2012, marking the first time Villopoto has competed since his Supercross injury earlier in the year.

Monster Energy Kawasakis Jake Weimer had a strong night in Phoenix where he finished runner-up.
Jake Weimer will be with Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2013 and beyond after signing a mutli-year deal with the team.
Ryan Villopoto: I knew I had the speed and really felt my bike was on but it took a lot of work moving through the field to finish third. I ran into a little bad luck tonight but overall I feel good about the ride.
Ryan Villopoto has made history riding for Kawasaki and he will remain with the team for years to come.
