Minnesota-born Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey welcomes 2013 tour stop back to the Metrodome.
Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., traded in his two wheels for four as he strapped into the 1,500 horsepower El Toro Loco Monster Jam truck at the Minneapolis Metrodome where Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam took place Saturday night.

In town for a media tour to promote the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, stop at the Metrodome on April 13, Dungey found himself in unfamiliar territory, seated 11’ above the dome’s floor. With sound advice from former supercross standout Damon Bradshaw, who now drives the Monster Energy Monster Jam truck, Dungey fired up El Toro Loco and trotted around the course before unleashing the truck’s power over a series of obstacles

“I never thought I would have an opportunity to drive something with so much horsepower,” said Dungey. “The guys like Tom Meents (driver of Max-DSM) make it look so easy, but there is nothing easy about driving a Monster Jam truck.”

With Dungey’s pre-season training in full swing, he’s looking forward to returning the start of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship and racing in front of his hometown crowd.

“I’ve grown up watching supercross races at the Metrodome, and when I heard that we were coming back in 2013, I was stoked,” said Dungey. “To race in front of my family and friends inside the Metrodome is going to be amazing. For sure, I will have extra motivation that night to pick up the Main Event win.”
