Seattle 250 Supercross Results 2013

Saturday, April 20, 2013
250 SX West riders picked up the points battle left off in San Diego during the showdown at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, and Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen leaves with his third win in the series this year. Geico Honda’s Eli Tomac finished in second-place, followed by his teammate, Zach Osborne, in third.

Tomac blasted off the start, taking the holeshot and early lead. Roczen was the only rider able to keep pace with the Honda ace, and both built a significant gap on the rest of the field by mid race. Tomac was successful at keeping Roczen at bay through the first 10 laps, but then went down hard when he came up short off a jump. Roczen easily moved past while Tomac scrambled to remount, and from there #94 went unchallenged to the checkers. Tomac recovered quickly enough to remain in second-place, finishing three seconds ahead of Osborne.

“It’s good to bounce back from a bad Heat Race with good start,” said Roczen, who went down twice earlier in the night. “I just put my head down and rode smart. The track was really technical out there, with a lot of ruts. It feels good to get a win after such a long break; it’s tough to get in a groove after so much time off, but I’m so happy I was able to walk away with this one.”

“The track was getting tough in the Main Event,” said Tomac. “I got a good start and started pulling away, but then I made a big mistake. It’s kind of a bummer, but that’s racing. I was lucky enough to be able to get up in second and still finish on the podium.”

Troy Lee Designs’ Cole Seely slipped into fourth late in the race, getting ahead of the battle for fifth raging between Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Tyla Rattray, HRT’s Austin Politelli and Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Ryan Sipes. Rattray kept the upper-hand and finished fifth, followed by Politelli and Sipes in sixth and seventh respectively. JDR’s Joey Savatgy ended in eighth, with Rattray’s teammate, Martin Davalos, trailing in ninth. Rockstar Energy’s Jason Anderson rounded out the top-10.

Roczen extended his points lead in the 250 SX West championship to 20 over Tomac. Seely sits in third overall 30 points adrift of the Colorado native while Osborne has moved into fourth, bumping Anderson down to fifth.
