James Stewart is now tied for the lead in the Motorcycle-Superstore.com Holeshot Championship with Justin Barcia.
Four riders gained points in the Motorcycle-Superstore.com Holeshot Championship at RedBud: Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart and JGRMX’s Josh Grant in the 450 class and GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn and his teammate, Zach Osborne, in the 250 class.

Grant was the first of the day to cross the white line, outpacing the field in 450 Moto 1 and earning one point in the MCSS Holeshot Championship. The Yamaha rider held the lead briefly after his quick start, but was bested by eventual race winner Ryan Villopoto of Monster Energy Kawasaki and Stewart, who finished in second-place. Grant’s third-place result in Moto 1 marks his first podium finish of the season and coupled with a fifth-place finish in Moto 2 gave him a spot on the overall rostrum, also in third.

"This is one of the toughest tracks we ride but also one of the best," said Grant. "This track is just so much fun to ride. That's what kept me up today."

Stewart nabbed the holeshot in Moto 2, giving him two points and putting him in a tie for the lead with Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Justin Barcia. He had his best weekend of the year at RedBud, posting a 2-2 result to finish second overall, a welcome change to the up-and-down season the Suzuki rider has endured so far.

"It feels good to actually race these guys again," said Stewart. "I've got to give it up to my team for sticking with me."

Hahn ran out front in 250 Moto 1, extending his points lead in the MCSS Holeshot Championship to two points over Osborne. The Honda ace missed the first four rounds of the year but quickly put himself in contention for the end-of-year $15,000 prize in his return at Budds Creek, where he took both holeshots and earned the total available points.

"Winning that check for 15 grand at the end of the year is a big motivation for me right now," said Hahn. "When you start strong, good things can happen for you in the race. I can't wait until Washougal so I can get some more points."

Osborne’s Moto 2 holeshot gave him two points and broke a six-way tie for second-place.

"Good starts equal good races," said Osborne. "That was certainly the case once again today. It's cool to have GEICO Honda in first and second place."

The Motorcycle-Superstore.com Holeshot Championship awards one points to the rider that is fastest to the white line in Moto 1, two points to the fastest in Moto 2 and a bonus point if a rider takes holeshots in both motos. The 450 class racer with the most points at the end of the year will receive a $25,000 bonus and in the 250 class, the prize is $15,000.
