GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac scored his sixth moto win of the season in 250 Moto 1 at Washougal. Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen trailed in second-place followed by his teammate, Marvin Musquin, in third.
Tomac got a good jump off the line, trailing his teammate and Motorcycle-Superstore.com
Moto 1 Holeshot winner Justin Bogle through the opening turns. Tomac wasted no time in gaining the lead though, and once out front stretched a gap on the field that grew to over 19 seconds at the checkers.
Bogle managed a strong performance through much of the race, holding to second ahead of Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett until the final minutes. BB finally found a line past, but his tenure in the runner-up spot was short-lived as he was forced to pull out of competition during the final laps when his bike stopped running.
Roczen, meanwhile, had to battle back from eighth during the opening laps, pushing through the crowd during the race until he met with Bogle in the battle for third as competition drew to a close. Roczen pushed past the Honda rider and then Musquin, too, made a late move on Bogle for a spot on the podium. The two KTM riders then waged a close battle for the final two spots on the rostrum during the last laps of Moto 1, with Roczen maintaining his advantage to the finish.
Bogle crossed line in fourth-place, followed by Baggett’s teammates, Justin Hill, in fifth, Adam Cianciarulo in sixth and Martin Davalos in seventh.
GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn scored the Motorcycle-Superstore.com Holeshot in Moto 2, but was quickly passed by Tomac, who got his second strong start of the day. Roczen was near the lead pack as well, and was in second-place within the opening minutes of competition, but Tomac was a beast and couldn’t be caught. Bogle spent much of the race in the number three spot, but late in the contest he fell back as Osborne pushed forward. Musquin also got past the Honda rider to finish fourth, as did Rockstar Suzuki’s Jason Anderson, who finished fifth.
Bogle ended the second moto in sixth followed by Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Justin Hill in seventh and his teammate, Blake Baggett, in eighth.
Roczen retains the series points lead, but only by a single point over Tomac. Musquin remains third overall followed by Baggett in fourth.
