GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn secured the 250 class Motorcycle-Superstore.com Holeshot Championship after taking the Moto 1 holeshot at Undillla. Hahn missed the first four rounds of 2013 due to injury, but once back on track proved nearly unbeatable to the white line, clinching the $15,000 prize by taking holeshots in six of the 12 motos run since his return.

"We are proud to present our first Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot check to Wil Hahn," said Tim Clark, Director of Sports Marketing for Motorcycle-Superstore. "Wil did a great job all season, and has proven to be the best of the best when it comes down to earning holeshots in the 250 class.

"We look forward to 2014 when Wil moves up to 450 and has the opportunity to win another holeshot championship, this time in the sport's premier class."

"After missing the first few races, the holeshot championship was the only thing left I could get, so I went after it hard," said Hahn. "I've got to be happy with it. It was progress this weekend. I led some more laps, and that's a positive thing.
“I have this great confidence in my bike and this program. Everything's clicking. We had a championship-winning Supercross season, so coming off of that, you're naturally going to have a lot of confidence. It all goes back to the team. They deserve the credit."

In the 450 class, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto demonstrated that he’s not out of the running yet, taking holeshots in both motos at Unadilla and earning the total four points available for the round. He moved into a tie for third-place with JGRMX’s Josh Grant and sits just four points behind leader James Stewart of Yoshimura Suzuki.

Villopoto only had one holeshot to his credit prior to the round at Unadilla, but changes to his machinery gave him the boost he needed to claim the front.

"We changed some things on the bike and it definitely helped improve my starts," Villopoto said. "It was a fork change and a shock change. It helped my initial leave out of the gate. You're not going to get every holeshot out there, because there are too many good guys, but I just felt like we could be better.

"I got both holeshots today, and I only had one on the year. That was the highlight of the day; getting two clean starts and getting out front."

The $25,000 prize for the 450 Holeshot Champion is still up for grabs, and Stewart sits atop the leaderboard with nine points. Team Muscle Milk Honda’s Justin Barcia is second with eighth followed by Grant and Villopoto in third, each with five.

Riders earn one point in the Motorcycle-Superstore.com Holeshot Championship for making it to the white line quickest in Moto 1, two points for doing it in Moto 2 and if the rider can score holeshots in both motos they earn one bonus point. If Villopoto can replicate his Unadilla starts at the upcoming round in Utah, the Kawasaki rider will be tied for the lead.
