Washougal 250 Motocross Results 2014

Saturday, July 26, 2014
Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin was on fire at Washougal, staging his best result of the year with a double victory in commanding fashion. Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett scored second overall with a 5-2 result followed by Yamalube Star Racing’s Jeremy Martin in third, going 4-4.

Moto 1

Martin got a good jump off the line, taking the lead through the first four laps, with Valli Yamaha’s Christophe Pourcel following in second and Musquin in third. Musquin made a pass on Pourcel within the opening laps and trailed Martin until moving to the lead on Lap 6, where he’d hold to the checkers.

Behind, Pourcel managed his place in the runner-up spot while Rockstar Energy’s Jason Anderson, Baggett and Martin swapped position in the battle for third. Anderson hit the ground hard mid-moto, having to pull out of the race. He was unable to return to Moto 2 on advice from medical staff.

Midway through the race, as Baggett and Pourcel were going at it in the battle for the podium, Martin’s teammate, Cooper Webb, joined the fight after battling up from 10th during the opening laps. Webb would get the best of both Baggett and Martin by the finish to take third, with Martin trailing in fourth and Baggett in fifth.

Anderson’s teammate, Joey Savatgy, finished in sixth followed by GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle in seventh and Baggett’s teammate, Dean Wilson, in eighth. Troy Lee Designs’ Cole Seely finished in ninth trailed by Bogle’s teammate, Zach Bell, in 10th.

Moto 2

Pourcel rocketed to the front off the start but lost the lead to Bogle during the opening lap, with Baggett trailing in third after an uncharacteristically great start. Bogle’s teammate, Zach Bell, was in the mix as well, with Musquin trailing close behind in fifth.

Musuqin started to drive up the ranks during the initial laps, getting to second-place in the first portion of the race. The KTM rider had to then chase down Bogle, who had stretched a gap on the field early on. With about 10 minutes remaining in the moto, Musquin had caught Bogle and made the pass for the lead. Behind, Bogle faced more pressure from Baggett as the Kawasaki ace pushed ahead, besting Bogle during the latter stages of the race for second-place.

Martin also looked spirited during the final laps, but ran out of time before he could challenge Bogle for the final step on the podium, finishing in fourth. Webb finished in fifth followed by Wilson in sixth and Savatagy in seventh.

Cycletrader.com’s Alex Martin took eighth with Seely and his teammate, Jessy Nelson, finishing ninth and 10th, respectively.

Martin holds on to the points lead with Webb trailing in second, 43 points back. Baggett is third followed by Musquin in fourth and Bogle in fifth.
