Scott Redding Talks MotoGP and Thundersprint

Tuesday, January 28, 2014
Scott Redding will make his MotoGP debut during the 2014 season aboard a Go & Fun Honda Gresini “Open” Class RCV1000R. The young British rider has been a World Championship competitor since 2008 when he started in the 125cc class and in 2013 he battled tirelessly with Pol Espargaro for the title. Redding came up 40 points short to finish second, but it marks his best season to-date in the World Championship. Prior to battling on the world stage, Redding won the MiniGP British Championship in 2004 and took second in the Spanish 125 CEV championship in 2007.

Redding has already started to prepare for the upcoming campaign with pre-season testing aboard his new machine. The transition from a Moto2 bike to a MotoGP mount has been drastic though, and Redding outlines some of the more remarkable aspects of the new motorcycle in the video interview below. The British rider sat down with MotoUSA Contributing Editor, Frank Melling, to talk about racing, his role in promoting new Alpinestars wear and about the upcoming Thundersprint event scheduled for May 10-11, 2014 at Darley Moor Circuit.

Redding will participate in Thundersprint and also plans to use the weekend as an opportunity to meet and mingle with fans.

“The Thundersprint is a giant two-day party for anyone who loves bikes and, best of all, I’ve got the time to talk to fans, have photographs and be with them socially,” explained Redding in mid-December 2013. “In fact, all the things I love doing but can’t at a GP.”
