Well shoot, Sid, I can't find my Data Sheet!

But here is what went down:
He had me pull up to this stand and he locked the bike into it. First we would unload the suspension , and he would take measurements; then he would have me get on the bike in the riding position and he would measure again. Then he would have me give the bike a little "bounce" to work the shocks, and he would measure again. At that point I hopped off, he would make his adjustments and then we would repeat the process all over. It took a few times to get it right where he wanted it.
So for the front, he adjusted the pre-load setting back to just barely under the "default" setting of the third line on the fork pre-load adjusters. I had front pre-load set a bit too stiff, so you could not see the third line.
On the rear, He set the pre-load back to the fourth position, also considered "default" (I had it on the 5th position; there are 7 total) and he adjusted the rebound so that the shock would recover or rebound quicker. The way I had it the shock wasn't recoverig fast enough so the rear of the bike would stay in a more compressed state for too long.
All in all I wasn't horribly off, given the experimentation that I had already done, but having a trained eye turning the wrenches and having me on the bike made all the difference. It took all the guess work out of the equation.
Now I gotta find that data sheet...
