110-plus degree weather, sketchy road surfaces and mean mugging cops. Nothing could stand in the way of us getting to Laguna Seca aboard our 2009 Yamaha R1.

Ok, the GNCC guys are taking a break for the next couple months so I’ll turn my attention back to the West Coast. Temps are rising and the racing atmosphere in the pro WORCS ranks is heating up right along side. I don’t know if you’re a fan or not of this format, but check out Wiley Watson’s mid-season recap video. It is hard to admit that this piece of anti-bike news comes from the UK… It was recently reported that a 19-year-old motorcyclist was electronically tagged for four months, given 36 hours of community work and ordered to pay £50 costs, (he had a clean record before as well) after being convicted of a riding offence!
Given such information you may think he had stolen a bike, knifed somebody or ridden dangerously.

Plenty of motocross and supercross racers find the off-road racing scene as a perfect way to extend their careers. An old MXer is a young off-roader, but there’s one who is getting an early start. Charles (Josh) Summey finished a remarkable ninth-place in the MotorcycleUSA.com Snowshoe GNCC XC1 division. Personally I thought it was awesome to see him come out and give the toughest GNCC race a shot.

The Can-Am Outlander Max is a burly machine, but leave it to our Off-Road Editor to max out this two-person ATV.

The summer of 2008 will be remembered for a couple things: First there was that whole presidential election – yeah, that was last year! There was also $140/barrel oil driving gas prices up to $4 a gallon. If you’re like me, you almost blotted out the memory of $4 gas after prices later plummeted – slashing almost in half.
