The Atomic Theory of Motorcycles, the whole lock stock and barrel of it all, came to me in a revelation as I leaned against a wooden pier staring at a BMW K1300GT. I was pitched backward, completely trusting my weight to the solid backing of the pier on Newport, Oregon’s waterfront.

Will this be me?
We’ve been testing the 2010 450 Motocross bikes this week and these things are absolute rocket ship! The pure acceleration and thrust is hard for the brain to comprehend at times, but it makes me wonder whether or not it’s even necessary.

Nitro Circus, the wildest posse on earth is back at it again with an all-new film titled Country Fried. In the video, Travis Pastrana and his crew continue to attempt some of the most psychotic stunts imaginable. Jumping dirt bikes, crashing cars, they’ve even managed to get their hands on explosives! The film also includes some of the biggest action from this year’s other major motorsport events including X Games, the Red Bull Experiment, and AMA Supercross/Motocross series.

Mr. Hatterly would be proud. More than a decade ago my high school chemistry teacher dutifully attempted to teach me how to convert grams per liter to… I don’t know, feet per second. I don’t remember any of it except that switching a combination of units of stuff, to another combination of units of stuff ain’t easy for me. Yet, somehow (crash the big gong in your brain), I think I may have just successfully transmuted km/l to mpg with a pen and paper.

Motorcycling spawns subcultures. Britain has its mods and rockers, America’s got its Hells Angels, and Japan’s got its Bosozoku Motorcycle Gang. Moto-punks infused with Imperial Japanese flair, the Bosozoku style is popularized in anime and manga. The word literally translates to ‘violent running tribes.’ The Kamikaze uniform clad bikers spawned a Japanese subculture back in the ‘50.
As you can see by this video, Bosozoku love to rev their engines.

Maybe I’m a simple creature, but it doesn’t take carbon fiber or titanium to ignite my prurient interests. Sex appeal and motorcycles go hand-in-hand. Plenty of bikes have it, and plenty don’t, but determining which is which boils down to that old saying about “whatever floats your boat.

Who says off-road guys have no style? JCR has a video introduction of ace desert racer, Kendall Norman. JCR is Honda’s factory off-road effort now so this guy is the desert version of Andrew Short and Davi Millsaps. Team owner, Johnny Campbell, is the Man when it comes to Baja racing these days, so when he says that Norman is his pick to succeed him and take the reins south of the border is quite an endorsement.
