My bikes  View as Slideshow

My bikes are mostly older, my "newest" bike is a used 04 Suzuki DRZ400E. My daily ride is my 94 BMW R1100RS (now with 163,000 miles on it and growing). My 76 BMW R100RS has about 65,000 miles on it. The rest of the stable includes: 83 XL600 Honda which will become a retro-supermotard, 81 Suzuki GN400 converted to an ice-bike, 81 Honda XR200 dirt bike restoration, and my 78 Suzuki GS1000 (runner but needs work). Oh, and my home built recumbent Raggi II, I built from scrath from my own design (doesn't show the seat mesh in the picture).
That's my 94 BMW R1100RS on the left, then at 157,000 miles on the clock, and my classic 76 BMW R100RS on the right, then at 65,000 miles.
This is my former dirt bike, an 83 XL600 kick-start only $200 basket case of a crankcase in a rolling frame. I reassembled the engine and enjoyed some dirt riding on it, and now plan to make it into a retro-supermotard. Already have a 17" rim to lace to the front hub.
My first day on the ice with my 81 Suzuki GN400 ice bike. I'm getting faster on it these days, learning to lean it in and slide it with the throttle.
I build recumbent bikes to work on my fabrication skills. This is my own design, that I built from scrath, starting with a couple lengths of tubing and a bunch of new and salvaged bicycle parts. One day after I finished it, with five test miles on it, I rode a three-day 215 mile ride in Iowa (which is NOT flat by the way) with no mechanical issues. I have over 500 miles on this bike now and have hit 42mph on it.
This is my most recent bike, a 2004 DRZ400E, my first real dirt bike. I added a tail bag, tail/brake light, on/off switch for the headlight and a digital odometer/speedo/hour meter/temperature gauge. I bought the bike used for $2700, and it is great on the trails. I find myself riding much better and faster on this bike than the XL600, plus its electric start!
First day to get the bike dirty on the 2011 Field N Forest Ride in the Kettle Morraine area of southeast Wisconsin. About 60 miles of off road that day, single track, moto tracks, hills, soft loam to hard pack, fields of all sorts.
