The teaser videos for the 2012 Kawasaki ZX-14R continue to pile up. The latest one, the sixth in a series of short, 30-second or less promos, at least shows more than a green blur blowing by. The most significant bit of info is the numbers 84 X 65mm that flash quickly on screen. Most believe this is the new bore/stroke dimensions of Kawasaki’s popular hyperbike which would bump up displacement to 1440cc from the 2011 version’s 1352cc. If this is true, it would be achieved through a 4mm-longer stroke.
What else do you see in the video? Fins of the fairing which appear to be a bit more rounded, sketches of the front, the numbers mentioned above, the flow of the tank, a peek at the headlights which appear to be updated while the large air intake located above them looks to be intact, the date 10/10/2011 where we’ll get our first look at Kawi’s new uberbike at Kawasaki’s Dealer Show in Orlando, and the bike’s new name, the 2012 ZX-14R.
Many believe the new ZX-14R will get a variation of the K-ACT ABS (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-Braking Technology) and the KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) introduced on the Concours. These will come in handy for a bike claimed to push out around 200 bhp!
Will Kawasaki tease us further? Probably. But check back on 10/10/2011 when “Mad Dog” Madson will separate fact from fiction at the Kawasaki Dealer Show.
