Rider: Roger Hayden
Team: Michael Jordan Motorsports
Machine: Suzuki GSX-R1000 (#54)
Born: May 30, 1983
The younger brother of Tommy and Nicky Hayden, Roger Lee started riding when he was five and won the Dirt Track Horizon Award in 1998. He won his first race at Barber Motorsports Park in 2004 and placed second in the AMA Supersport class to his brother, Tommy, in 2004 and 2005. Roger made his debut on a Grand Prix bike in 2007 at Laguna Seca and finished a respectable 10th.
Hayden honed his skills in the AMA circuit, eventually clenching the Supersport Championship in 2007 aboard a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
Prior to winning the Supersport title in 2007, he was named the 2006 AMA Superbike Rookie of the Year. With a father who was a dirt track racer for 20 years and a brother – Nicky Hayden – who’s been World Champion, you might say that racing is in Roger Lee’s blood.
In 2010 Roger earned a ride with the Pedercini Kawasaki World Superbike team. After a disappointing first year in World Superbike, Roger finished the season in 19th.
For 2011 Roger will be transitioning to AMA Superbike where he recently signed a deal with the Michael Jordan Motorsports team. Aboard a Suzuki GSX-R1000, Roger will compete in the premier AMA Pro Racing class along with his new teammate, Ben Bostrom.
