RSD/IV League Bring Flat Track Back to Del Mar

It’s going to be “a hot time in the old town tonight” as Roland Sands Design and Brian Bell of IV League Flat Track combine forces to bring flat track racing back to Del Mar.

Return to Del Mar: Short Track by the Beach” will take place January 17 -18 at Del Mar Fairgrounds, approximately 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. The races will feature a little bit of everything, from Pro, Intermediate and Beginner Adult Classes to Hooligans on Harleys. Action will range from Speedway bikes to Quads to the always entertaining “Run What You Brung” class. Riders will compete on Del Mar’s 1/8-mile-long track that’s a combination of silica, red humus and clay. The spirited competition has the potential to bring back a bit of the flair of yesteryear with some good ol’ fashioned bar-banging action by the beach.

Registration is $45 for each class, $40 to race in additional classes, except for the mini-bike class that only costs $15 to enter. Here’s a bit more info courtesy of the RSD Blog, including a link for those interested in signing up for a race.

“Join IV League Flat Track and RSD as we bring Flat Track Racing back to Del Mar. This is your chance to bring out the old iron and that rusty steel shoe and put them to good use. There’s a class for nearly everyone so go to the website and register now. Hooligan classes, quads, vintage, pro, beginner and classes for the youngsters. Southern California Flat Track by the Beach in Del Mar is back!!”
